Streaming juggernaut Spotify have agreed to take down country legend Neil Young’s music, after he accused podcast host Joe Rogan of spreading Covid misinformation.

Young, who’s legendary country album Harvest was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015, expressed his displeasure at Rogan in an open letter to Spotify, stating that the platform could either have Young’s Music or Rogan’s podcast.

Young stated in his since – deleted open letter to his manager and record company on his website: ‘I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform. They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.’

Young has previously taken his work off Spotify before, in 2015, criticising Spotify’s streaming quality of his music.

Rogan has been accused of spreading misinformation before, in interviews with candidates such as Jordan Peterson and Dr Robert Malone. It was in his podcast with Dr Malone,  that Malone compared the U.S. to Nazi Germany. Dr Malone claimed ot be part of the team that invented the MRNA technology used in the Covid 19 jabs. He also stated that the companies administering vaccines, such as Pfizer and Moderna, have ‘financial conflicts of interest’

The podcast also prompted a letter to Spotify by 270 medical professionals to adopt a “misinformation policy”.

Spotify have received criticisms from figures such as Amy Siskend and Harrison Krank, who claim that they are backing capital interests over clamping down on covid misinformation.

Rogan, 54, has yet to comment on Young’s ultimatum.
