Earlier this week new broke that the well-known fashion designer Thiery Mugler sadly passed away at the age of 73.
His death was confirmed on Instagram with a blank black image and a caption which read “RIP We are devasted to announce the passing of Mr Manfred Thierry Mugler on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022”.
His agent confirmed the designer had died of ‘natural causes’, adding he had been due to announce new collaborations early this week.
Manfred Thierry Mugler was born in Strasbourg , France on December 21, 1948. He later moved to Paris where he unlocked his love for fashion.
Mugler launched his own Paris boutique in 1974 and shortly after launched himself in the 80s as one of the leading figures in international fashion. His first personal collection was called “Café De Paris”. The style of the collection was both sophisticated and urban.
Mugler had created distinctive and original designs in the fashion world and he was highly praised for this. Thierry Mugler rejected the label of being a “fashion designer” and believed he was a director of fashion – everything should in fashion should be presented in a “theatrical and musical environment”.
His catwalks featured some of the era’s supermodels, including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.
Many well-known stars including Michael Jackson, Madonna and David Bowie have worn Mugler’s signature designs.
During his multi-decade career, he worked with Diana Ross, Demi Moore and more recently the designer created outfits for Cardi B, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce.
In later years Mugler retired from fashion and stepped back from the industry to focus on fragrances, he became famous for perfumes such as Angel and Alien.
Some have paid tribute to the designer such as Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Iman ,Rita Ora and Vanessa Hudgens.
Vanessa Hudgens paid condolences to the designer by resharing a video from 2020 Mugler Exhibition to her Instagram stories. “No one did it like he did ” she said.
Many are expressing their sorrows underneath the announcement on Mugler’s Instagram. Many have described the designers clothes as “sculptural , sexy and fierce”. Across social media celebs are sharing images of their favourite Mugler pieces.
Singer Rita Ora paid tribute by wearing a pair of the designer’s distinctive jeans. Meanwhile Kourtney Kardashian posted a picture on her Instagram story of her famous family all dressed in Mugler’s designs.
