Gillingham hockey team Invicta Dynamos look for fan funding to solve financial troubles

By Tommaso Dimiddio

The Invicta Dynamos, an ice hockey team based in Gillingham, are calling on the club’s fans to get behind a new Crowd Funding campaign to ensure their survival.

This season has been the most difficult so far for the Dynamos both on and off the ice, with increased financial pressures and no victories in the league yet.

Following their promotion to the second tier of ice hockey in the country and the reconstruction of the league, the aim of the club is now to raise up to £5,000 as soon as possible.

During their 22 year history, the past few weeks have been the toughest and no-one has felt that more than Head Coach Kevin Parrish.

“I’ve been here 22 years coaching and playing, so I’m Invicta through and through. I want to see what happens and make sure this club stays alive”, he said.

As part of the campaign, supporters can buy packages that will see them rewarded in return.

An action group has also been set up to look for potential business partnerships.

Andy Mason, Match Day Co-ordinator of the club, believes there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

“We’re on the way up now. We were on the bottom rung of the ladder, we are fighting back and we won’t go down without a fight, that’s for sure”, he said.

With the support of Kent Sports Trust, the club are giving away 5000 free tickets to local school children, community groups and clubs.
