Gills planning to build on stunning FA Cup win

Gillingham FC are going to face Luton Town in the Skybet League 2 on Saturday, just days after their thrilling comeback win in the FA Cup against Hartlepool.

After their bad start to the season, the players and the manager are now looking forward to the upcoming games. They are especially excited about the next round of the cup.

Steve Lovell, the Gills’ manager, said: “We all want to be in that third round because anything can happen in that third round. That’s where dreams are made, in the third round. It will be a massive game for both teams.”

The Gills are looking forward to the next games and players are also dreaming of qualifying for the next round. They want to build on their stunning performance in the FA Cup.

Gills’ midfielder Mark Byrne said: “Getting as far as possible and then hopefully we will get some big team. That’s what I would like, a big team away from home.”

He added: “It would be great for us players and the fans as well.”

But even though the Gills’ form has improved over the past few weeks, there is speculation that striker and fan favourite Tom Eaves will leave at the end of the season.

Steve Lovell said: “It’s still being discussed. Tom is a player with us until the end of the season and obviously we want him to stay longer with us.”

Having a full schedule until Christmas, with games nearly every week, the Gills are looking forward to further improve.
