GK Union helps charities with making heart origamis and breaking world records.

GK Union is about to break a Guinness World Record for the largest display of origami hearts while raising money for Molly McLaren Foundation and Cardiac Risk in the Young charitable organisation.

This shared project has spanned the Medway and Kent community, and as each heart is simple to fold, people of all ages and backgrounds from around 40 different groups have been involved already, including MidKent College, National Autistic Society, Kent Association for the Blind, Scouts and Brownies, local primary and secondary schools.

The first day of origami sessions was packed with young enthusiasts who had to try a new craft for the first time.

An origami exhibition and record attempt will take place in the spring term at the Deep End on the Medway Universities’ Campus. The event will be open to the public. Meanwhile anyone can participate in the hears’ folding. Next drop in sessions will be held at the GKU Social Space at the Deep End on 29thof November and 6thof December from 11 am to 2 pm.
