New mobile app launched by the Home Office for EU citizens

by Victoria Lupascu

With no more than 63 days left until the UK leaves the European Union, the British Government launched a new mobile app for the European people who want to continue living here after the process is finalized.

The app could cause a scandal as many people don’t know about it or they are unable to register.

The sec

urity of the app can be questioned, however Matteo Migliavacca, a senior lecturer at the School of Computing at the University of Kent, who also tried the app said he doesn’t believe it can be hacked.

He said: “It’s very difficult to generate a new fake picture, fake fingerprints and pretend that this can belong to a given person.”

Matteo applied for the permit and said it was much easier, as before, the process was much longer.

He said: “I think it’s definitely a huge improvement.”

Some European citizens have tried the app and didn’t like it. However, Alina Casandrescu, a Romanian citizen living in the UK believes the app is a great idea.

She said: “I think that is normal for a country to want to have a record of the flow of the people who come to live, to work and to become residents.”

Moreover, others like Medway Councillor Vince Maple, do not agree with this app, launched just 63 days before Brexit.
