Scuffles and Altercations: All banter for UKIP

It comes as no surprise that the European Parliament has launched an investigation into yesterdays “altercation” between two UKIP MEPs. Martin Shulz, the president of the European Parliament said “It goes without saying that disrespectful and violent behaviour does not have a place in the European Parliament.” Regardless of how Eurosceptic one may be, this a shame that everyone should be feeling in the UK.

As well as bringing us out of the EU, UKIP seems to be intent on parading the UK out of the EU like Cersie Lannister on her walk of shame. And as the pound swiftly plummets, how long will it be before Britain’s reputation on the world stage will descend along with it.

However the truly remarkable thing about this the defiant tone of Raheem Kassam who running against Mr Wolfe for the UKIP leadership. He is critical of the appointment Conservative MEP Sajjad Karim on the advisory committee overseeing the investigation for “trying to undermine Ukip and Steven Woolfe at every turn”.

He went on to say that “When the EU Parliament wants to get serious, then we should work with them. Not before”.

This is a party that does not seem to be humiliated by the fact that two of its MEPs had a brawl in the European Parliament. Meanwhile across the channel there are very serious politicians who will be discussing how to negotiate a very serious deal for a Britain that is very seriously leaving the EU. It would be nice if UKIP politicians could compose themselves for the occasion, despite the disadvantage of being UKIP politicians.
