New survey: Millennials are so lazy they don’t even cook their own food
Despite the endless flow of Instagram food posts, it turns out 25% of millennials have no interest in cooking.
According to a Co-op survey, 16- to 34-year-olds, have no interest in, or simply do not have time for the art of cooking.
One would think that the popularity of The Great British Bake Off, one minute long Tastemade videos on Facebook and Gaz from Geordie Shore’s food snaps would inspire youngsters to care about what they eat, but apparently we enjoy the virtual cooking – it is less messy.
We talked to some University of Kent students to see if this was the case
Cornelia Petronella Stensby Laak, 20:
I don’t cook. It doesn’t interest me and it takes forever. I’d rather have a really big breakfast and then skip dinner entirely. I cook maybe once a week.
George Flitton, 21:
I always cook. It’s not always too fancy, but for me it’s really important that I know what goes into my body. I like food that is fresh, healthy and homemade. It’s not always easy to cook in a community kitchen, but it is definitely worth it, because I know my body is healthy and happy.
Eline Meling Henriksen, 20:
Dinner is my favourite thing about the whole day. I don’t understand how anyone can skip dinner. I love cooking, and I love vegetables. Simple as that!
