50 years on from the Aberfan disaster

The Aberfan disaster tragically killed almost half of the children at Pantglas Junior school, taking the lives of 144 people in total.

I spoke to Ann Stone, a woman who lived in the valley at the time of the accident who recalls what she remembers from that fateful day.

Ann also offers her opinion on how the tragedy has affected the village in the long-term and society as a whole.

The Prince of Wales today joined the village of Aberfan in mourning those casualties 50 years ago by placing a new memorial plaque.
