ARE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS RECEIVING SUPPORT DURING COVID 19?

University students now on their third lockdown are continuing to study from home with virtual lectures and little to no social experience. Many students are facing uncertainty causing mental health worries. Some students feel as though the Government and Universities are not doing much to support.

Young adults aged 18-34 and women are more likely to report worse mental health and wellbeing, than older adults and men, according to official statistics found during the first lockdown.

Tehreem Sadiq, a final year student studying Pharmacy at the University of Kent feels as though the Government and Universities are not aware of the stress students are currently facing.

Universities are trying their best to accommodate their students and support them through their health and wellbeing services, such as University of Kent’s Student Support and Wellbeing. The staff in Canterbury and Medway continue to operate remotely.
