Wow. Post Malone runs Circles around contenders at Billboards 2020

Hollywood may be bleeding but Post Malone is not bearing any scars, as he took home nine trophies at last night’s Billboard awards in a ceremony long delayed by COVID 19. The rapper bagged the events biggest prize of Top Artist beating off the likes of Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift.

Khalid followed up Post Malone with five awards all limited to the R&B categories after being beaten four times by Malone in other categories, and missed out on Top Billboard 200 Album to Billie Eilish. Eilish secured three awards including Top New Artist and Top Female Artist, which is two shy of her Grammy’s total earlier this year.

Kanye West missed out on Top Christian Artist but won both Top Christian and Top Gospel albums as well as Top Gospel artist and Top Gospel song.

The awards were scheduled for last April but were delayed until last night with strict measures in place to ensure social distancing. The show was hosted by Kelly Clarkson from the Dolby Theatre in LA with no audience and a number of artists joined from multiple locations to perform live, including the big winner Post Malone from an industrial rig.

Korean band BTS who won the audience-voted award also performed their song Dynamite continuing their invasion into the US music scene. Earlier this week the band caused controversy in China after their leader commented on South Korea’s shared ‘history of pain’ with the U.S.
