Gills encourage more people to get involved in Kent football

Gillingham Football Club’s Community Trust have seen an increase in the amount of people making use of their football lessons.

The trust have been focusing their sessions at Strood Leisure Centre on including people who normally wouldn’t get the chance to play football and it’s been hugely popular.

Disabled children can be coached for just £3 and girls can play for £1.

Jack Knighton, one of the coaches involved, said he hoped the scheme would continue to grow.

“We’ve got five pitches here which we can max out.

“It’s not just for disabled children though, we’ve got sessions for girls, disabled adults, mentally ill people and the homeless as well.”
